Struggle in Ghana + New Music Coming Oct 2

“Ghana, how are you feeling tonight?”

…Scattered cheering and a smattering of applause…

This crowd was tough.

Really tough — and it had been like this all week.

Artists from all over the world (from many different styles) had been performing, worshipping God and sharing the Good News of Jesus with excellence, boldness, and sincerity in the city of Kasoa, Ghana over the last few days — and there had been some engagement — pockets of people dancing and singing along, enjoying it all.

But there had also been an air of almost palpable skepticism and suspicion, and even some outright mocking.

We had expected some resistance from the crowds during this outreach in particular — our team had purposely chosen a location in a largely non-Christian area, and the crowd was an odd mix of skeptics, Muslims, hecklers, and the drug users who had previously been using the festival grounds as a base of operations.

So we were in the right place — but so far it had been really challenging.

The night before, we had spotted a young lady weeping in the crowd, and had gone to her and asked if we could pray for her, only to be shooed away by her friends, who told us in no uncertain terms that she belonged to a different faith and didn’t want Jesus.

Her tears had told a different story — she was obviously heartbroken and looking for help —but her friends had done their best to silence her.

And now it was the final night — we had fought through our set, and watched the crowd finally begin to soften and respond more openly, by the grace of God alone — and we were watching the final speaker of the night give an opportunity to say YES to Jesus.

“You have a choice — if you want Jesus, you are free to choose Him!” was a message that had been proclaimed by many of the performers throughout the evening — and now it was time to respond.

“If you want to receive this free gift from Jesus — forgiveness, freedom, and re-connection with God — if you want to surrender your life to Jesus, please raise your hand and we’ll say “yes” to Him together!”

And after a week of resistance, something began to change.

More and more hands began to rise.  Those who had been scoffing were lifting their hands with tears in their eyes.  Gone were the frowns and scowls, replaced with a fresh openness, the mockers were asking for prayer in the name of Jesus.

And the young lady we had spotted two nights ago was among those responding.

God was moving in a dusty field in the middle in of Kasoa, Ghana.

What a privilege to experience it.

Over the course of the short festival we saw thousands of people impacted and our team logged more than 8000 documented decisions to follow Jesus.

All glory belongs to King Jesus — He is so good, and He is drawing people to Himself all over the world.

We thank you so much for your love, prayer, and support —  thank you for being a part of this mission to reach the world with the message of Jesus.

Next week we are scheduled to travel to South Africa to be a part of another week-long outreach, and we are so excited to watch what God does — please pray for PROTECTION, full PROVISION, and a massive RESPONSE to the message of Jesus!
