COME BACK Streaming JULY 17th
The last several months have truly been a profound season of re-calibration for us.
From March to June, in the midst of the upheaval that has affected the entire world, we found ourselves unexpectedly stranded overseas - shows were cancelled or postponed, plans were put on hold…
And we found ourselves CHALLENGED to continue in our mission to share the love of Jesus - even if it meant finding new ways to do it during a time of global crisis.
We began to brainstorm - we wrote new music and started a podcast…
AND we discovered the rugged, beautiful coastline of Biarritz, France, and decided to start filming.
Our goal was to use the windswept cliffs of France as a backdrop to tell some of the heartfelt musical stories from our latest album.
This FRIDAY, JULY 17th, we release our first “story,” the music video for “COME BACK” one of our favorite songs from our latest album, “Through It.”
And we wanted you to hear it first.
Follow the link, have a look, and let us know what you think - we’d love to hear from you!
And if you’d like to hear a bit more about the heart behind the music, here’s what our very own Sierra has to say about what inspired her to write this vulnerable song:
“I started writing this song after several years of intense traveling.
I had called multiple places around the world “home” within a short period of time.
The people that were closest to my heart lived oceans apart, and the vastly different cultures that I’d been immersed in made it difficult for me to determine what my “normal” really was.
Where was the consistency in my life? Where was my home?
My heart felt like it was divided into pieces and each piece lived on a different continent. To the outside world it may have seemed like I was “living the dream” but on the inside, I felt alone.
I began processing my emotions by writing the melodies and words that would soon become this song, and as I did, I was reminded of a story in the Bible:
It’s the story of a son who left his father to taste the sweetness that the world had to offer. He ended up in a really dark place feeling alone - just as I had felt.
He was desperate. And in his desperation he realized his need and his longing for his father - he concluded that even his father’s servants had a better life than he did after chasing what he thought would bring him happiness.
This song, inspired by my own story, is written from the perspective of the prodigal son.
It’s an expression of his longing - his realization of his deep need to connect with his father and his yearning for a place to call home.
“I know who you are, you hear my voice from a distance.
Your heart beats with my heart even through my resistance.
You won’t leave me here alone.”
These are the final words of the song. That is where I land and this is who God has shown Himself to be in my life.
No matter how chaotic my heart, my life, my circumstances might be, He is my “consistent.” He is my “constant.” He is true. He longs for connection and He listens for my voice with his ear pressed up against the wall I’ve put between us.
He longs for you and He longs for me - He is waiting for us to search for Him and He is ready to be our home.”
Thanks for joining us on the journey, friends, we love you and we’re grateful for you!
